Most common thyroid screen. Very frequent in Nepal.
TSH is the hormone your brain uses to tell the thyroid gland how hard to work. If the thyroid is underactive, TSH goes up; if it is overactive, TSH goes down. So a single number gives a fast read on overall thyroid balance.
Thyroid problems are very common in Nepal, especially in women — and they cause vague symptoms (tiredness, weight changes, mood swings) that get mistaken for stress or aging. A TSH test settles the question in one blood draw.
No fasting required. If you are already on thyroid medicine, take it as your doctor advised — ideally after the blood draw.
