What this test checks

Detects TdT, an enzyme expressed in immature lymphoid cells (lymphoblasts). A key marker for diagnosing acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphoma — cancers that predominantly affect children and young adults.

Why do people get this test?

TdT positivity is a hallmark of lymphoblastic leukaemia/lymphoma. Identifying this marker confirms the diagnosis and guides intensive chemotherapy protocols specifically designed for these aggressive but often curable cancers.

When you should consider this test

• When acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) or lymphoblastic lymphoma is suspected
• When classifying acute leukaemia in children or young adults
• As part of lymphoblastic malignancy diagnostic panel
