Method: IHC
Detects PAX-5, a transcription factor expressed in B-lymphocytes (but typically absent in plasma cells). Used as a B-cell lineage marker in lymphoma classification, particularly for classical Hodgkin lymphoma where PAX-5 is weakly positive.
PAX-5 weak positivity on Reed-Sternberg cells is a characteristic feature of classical Hodgkin lymphoma — helping to distinguish it from T-cell lymphomas and other B-cell lymphomas where PAX-5 is strongly expressed.
No preparation needed — performed on biopsy or surgical tissue.
