NKX3.1 is one of the most specific prostate markers available. When prostate cancer spreads (commonly to bone or lymph nodes), this test confirms it is from the prostate — guiding hormone therapy and other prostate-specific treatments.

When you should consider this test

• When cancer has spread and prostate cancer is the suspected primary
• When PSA staining is weak or negative but prostate origin is suspected
• As part of prostate cancer origin confirmation panel
