What this test checks

Detects glypican-3 protein, highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and some germ cell tumours (yolk sac tumours). Used to confirm HCC diagnosis and differentiate it from benign liver lesions.

Why do people get this test?

Glypican-3 is a sensitive marker for HCC and helps distinguish liver cancer from benign tumours. In combination with HepPar-1 and arginase-1, it provides reliable HCC confirmation — critical before liver-specific treatments.
