What this test checks

Detects cyclin D1, a cell cycle regulatory protein overexpressed in mantle cell lymphoma and some other tumours including parathyroid adenoma and breast cancer.

Cyclin D1 overexpression is the hallmark molecular feature of mantle cell lymphoma — a lymphoma type with a characteristically aggressive course. Confirming this diagnosis is essential for choosing appropriate treatment including stem cell transplant.
