What this test checks

Detects CD3, a protein present on all T-lymphocytes. The primary marker for confirming T-cell lymphomas and identifying T-cells in tissue — distinguishing T-cell from B-cell lymphomas.

Why do people get this test?

T-cell and B-cell lymphomas require different chemotherapy regimens. CD3 is the fundamental T-cell marker — its presence confirms T-cell lineage and guides lymphoma classification and treatment.

When you should consider this test

• When classifying a lymphoma as T-cell or B-cell type
• When T-cell lymphoma (peripheral T-cell, anaplastic large cell, etc.) is suspected
• As part of comprehensive lymphoma immunophenotyping
