Dengue Test (NS1 Antigen)

What this test checks

The NS1 antigen test looks for a specific protein the dengue virus releases into your blood in the very first days of infection. A positive result confirms an active dengue infection right at the start.

Why do people get this test?

Dengue spreads heavily during and after the monsoon across Kathmandu and the Terai. Catching it early helps your doctor watch for warning signs (low platelets, dehydration, bleeding) and decide whether you can recover at home or need hospital care.

When you should consider this test

• High fever in the monsoon or post-monsoon season
• Severe body aches, eye pain, headache
• Skin rash, mild bleeding from gums or nose
• Recent travel to a dengue-affected area
• Family member or neighbour recently confirmed dengue

How to prepare

No special preparation. Do this test within the first 5 days of fever for the best accuracy.
