Method: PAP STAIN & MICROSCOPY
Collects cells from the cervix (neck of the womb) and examines them for abnormal changes that could indicate pre-cancer or cervical cancer, or signs of infection.
The Pap smear is one of the most effective cancer screening tests available. Catching abnormal cervical cells early — before they turn cancerous — allows treatment that is simpler and more successful.
Avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal creams, or douching for 48 hours before the test. Schedule the appointment when you are not menstruating.
